Description:

This course explores evidence-based self-care practices in occupational therapy. Participants are guided through a series of activities that explore self-care practices from mental, interpersonal, and physical health perspectives. Participants work together in large and small groups to develop a personal action plan for promoting well-being on individual, team, and organizational levels. Opportunities for professional advocacy to support well-being in occupational therapy practitioners and students are discussed.

Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Examine evidence on self-care and well-being in occupational therapy
  • Appraise self-care strategies that can be integrated into everyday life
  • Develop an action plan for promoting well-being on individual, team, and organizational levels
  • Identify opportunities for professional advocacy to support well-being in occupational therapy
