This course will provide OTPs with a practical introduction to population-level advocacy in the state of Illinois. This course will aim to increase practitioners’ knowledge of state-level advocacy processes, resources, and policies affecting OT practice in Illinois, as well as enhance their confidence in utilizing the ILOTA resources that support advocacy efforts. Grounded in OT’s ethical and professional responsibilities, the webinar emphasizes actionable strategies that practitioners can immediately apply to amplify their collective voice and influence policies that directly impact practice and client participation.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, Advocates will:

  1. be knowledgeable about current healthcare policies affecting OT practice in Illinois
  2. be able to describe the legislative process in Illinois
  3. knowledgeable of key ILOTA resources that support population-level advocacy engagement
  4. demonstrate at least one practical strategy for communicating with policymakers
  5. develop a personal action step for participating in advocacy efforts using ILOTA resources
