Description:

This course briefly details the role that OTPs play in addressing sleep in babies and toddlers. This course reviews assessment, intervention, and clinical analysis for supporting OTPs in addressing sleep patterns and sleep hygiene for this population as well as their parents/families. Participants will gain knowledge on appropriate sleep recommendations, review of safe sleep practices, as well as how to incorporate other professionals in the discussion of sleep. 

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain AAP's safe sleep guidelines
  2. Identify several commonly reported sleep issues seen in babies and toddlers
  3. Discuss importance of sleep hygiene and incorporate parent/family involvement for successful sleep
  4. List at least 3 sleep interventions related specifically to OT practice
