The purpose of this session is to further examine patterns of stress in oncology patients and the feasibility of incorporating mindfulness-based practice into acute care occupational therapy services for this population. Many patients receive acute occupational therapy treatment with a focus physical health, but mental health is increasingly important to focus on as it has effects on rehabilitation outcomes. This session seeks to identify specific areas of occupational performance that are impacted while receiving acute treatment in the hospital and how this may be mitigated by mindfulness-based interventions.
